
KLH Student Wins the Blitz Chess Championship in Spain
18-year-old Raja Rithvik, a Young grandmaster from Telangana, shines once again at the international stage. This student of KL Deemed to be University, Hyderabad campus won another International tournament title in his career. He secured first place in IX Chessable Sunway Sitges International Blitz Chess Festival in Spain.
In this prestigious competition, which featured 120 top players from 30 nations, including the United States, Canada, England, Netherlands, Ukraine, Germany, France, Norway, and Spain, the 20th-seeded Rithvik showed a wonderful performance and topped the tournament with 8.5 points in nine rounds.
He won against three grandmasters Adhiban, Aravind Chidambaram (India), and Swain Friedrich (Germany), and ended the game with another grandmaster Arjun Kalyan (India) as a ‘draw.’ This Hyderabadi remained undefeated throughout the competition, winning eight games and drawing one.
Recently Ms KS Prasad, President of the Telangana State Chess Association, felicitated him. Rithvik expressed confidence that he will bring more awards not only to Telangana but also to the country through his victories and performances in the future. Presently he is undergoing advanced training in chess under the guidance of his mentor N Rama Raju at the RACE Chess Academy. Rithvik is currently studying B. Tech in Electronics and Communications Engineering course from KL Deemed to be University, Hyderabad campus.
